ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 9001 Certifications

This standard was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and the ISO technical committee. It was developed due to the need for a common base about Quality Management System requirement harmonized on a global scale.
This specific technique harmonizes all national quality standards: QS-9000, VDA 6.1, EAQF 94 and AVSQ. Organisations that meet the Quality Management System requirements get the ISO/TS 16949 certification. This promotes a continuous improvement process, which aims at preventing defects and reducing variability and waste in the supply chain.
The technical specification is implemented for every product range of manufacturers and suppliers of products, production materials, and services, such as heat treatment and galvanization, and the manufacture of other products for the automotive industry, such as vehicle components.
The certification related to this standard is acknowledged by major automotive and OEM companies. Most of the manufacturers in this sector work only with ISO/TS 16949 certified companies. In fact, a condition for car manufacturers’ suppliers is follow the strict requirements in the standard.
- ISO 9001 certification: this certification is related to the most famous quality-improvement standard, which now counts more than one million certified companies in 180 countries.
The 9000-series standard published by International Standardization Organization (ISO) is the only one that can be used to assess conformity.
The ISO 9001 standard is the reference for many other important industry standards, such as ISO 13485 (for medical devices), ISO/TS 16949 (for the Automotive industry) and AS/EN 9100 (for the aerospace industry) as well as for other management system standards, such as OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
